If you travel to San Francisco for a few days, I recommend you to spend half a day or one day visiting Sausalito.

Across the Bay, in Marin County, you will find this bohemian coastal town.

Enjoy the views of San Francisco from the railing of Bridgeway, with a incredible landscape, take a look at their houseboats, and enjoy the great variety of culture and leisure.

Climate: Mediterranean with temperatures above the San Francisco area.

Getting there: If you have a car you’ll love to cross the Golden Gate Bridge and make a stop here. But if you do not have a vehicle, this town also can be reached by bus (routes 2,4,10 and 92) or ferry (from Ferry building and Pier 41).

What I like: Personally what we love to do and most recommend is walking, even if you’ve already been before: You always discover some new points.

Its main tourist attraction are the boat houses. There are over 500 houseboats spread over 5 ports. You can wander through the streets of each of the ‘neighborhoods’ and see amazing homes with decorations and most varied of all sizes many with long history.

The best places to see them are around Gate 5 Road and Main Dock area, and Gate 6 Road Waldo Point Harbor area.

During our last visit we walked through Liberty Dock and these are some of the houses we saw.

What I like least: During the weekends this town is full of tourists and this makes eating anywhere synonymous to wait long line.

My favorite places to eat: Napa Valley Burger Co in 670 Bridgeway, quality burgers.

Scoma’s in 588 Bridgeway, seafood crags. Beautiful views, ideal for romantic moments.

Sausalito es increíble, sobre todo las casas flotantes y las vistas de SF. Si te digo que fuimos 3 veces y no vimos las casas flotantes… Aish! Esto pasa por no informarse bien jeje
