Today we will highlight movies and series have been filmed in Hawaii, especially in the island of Oahu, where the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu, is located.

Hawaii islands have been the scene of many films by its ability to transform, making viewers believe that the stage belongs to a Pacific beach, to the Peruvian jungle or even a South African village.

Hawaii never fails, and movie legends like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and James Cameron recognize that they’ve used the great attributes of the islands. Oahu and Kauai mainly.

Enumerate films have been shot here:

The list could not start otherwise, Steven Spielberg chose Hawaii to shoot some of the scenes from movies Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.

Using places like Honolulu Zoo

Kualoa Ranch is a vast land expansion where it has been also filmed movies Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, films like Pearl Harbor, 50 First Dates or scenes from the famous serie Lost.

There are tours to visit these scenarios and take pictures.

Now let’s take a look at scenes from the movies Jurassic Park and Jurassic World shot in Kualoa Ranch

In the movie 50 First Dates, Drew Barrymore breakfast at Hukilau Cafe: this wooden cafe was built for the film but as a curiosity I will say that there is a coffee shop on Oahu with that name and possibly inspired the film.

Although the film Pearl Harbor is about the Japanese attack on the American naval base in Hawaii, most of the scenes were shot in Los Angeles.

Another of the movies filmed in Hawaii is Godzilla, released on May 16, 2014 in the United States.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Hotel was the perfect location to show the disaster caused by the monster.

The ruins of the hotel, a helicopter crashed, and the wreckage of a ship were stacked along the beach. Hundreds of extras acted as dazed victims seeking help.

Also in Lewers Street it was filmed this scene in which more than 300 people pretended to escape from Godzilla. On the right we can see a footprint of Godzilla in the Kualoa ranch.

Since 1913, Hawaii has been the location of many Hollywood productions. More than 47 movies have been filmed in this tropical islands. Movies like The Hunger Games, Jurassic Park, The Descendants, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pirates of the Caribbean, Soul Surfer, Pearl Harbor, 50 First Dates, From Here to Eternity, the South Pacific, Blue Hawaii , King Kong, Point Break, Aloha and many more!

We may also mention two well-known and established series that were located in the island of Oahu:

Hawaii Five-0

The serie covers the actions of a small special unit of the police state created by the governor of Hawaii to investigate serious crimes in the islands.

Under this argument is easy to understand that all exteriors are filmed in emblematic places like Hale Ali’iolani Palace, located in downtown Honolulu, headquarters State justice.

This Waikiki hotel has been the scene of many sequences. When the team meets for dinner, it usually takes place in the Tropics Bar and Grill. If you are fans of the serie you will remember the episode in which Chin saddened by the loss of his wife, sat on the beach and Danno met with the rest of the team dining at the Bar, that comes over to talk to him.
These scenes were shot on the beach opposite the Tropics Bar & Grill.

The funeral scenes were shot at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Another famous place is the Rainbow Tower near Kahanamoku Lagoon

It is the beach where the base camp is established. Certainly if you only have time to visit one of the locations of the series it would be this.

Even with parts of the backlot like cooking and pieces of the plane.

Address: Papailoa Road, north of Haleiwa.

The camp of the “others” called DHARMA Camp is Camp HR Erdman YMCA Camp, located at 69-385 Farrington Highway. If you approach the yellow cottage it is impossible not to recognize the camp from the series.

Coming back to the serie Lost, do you remember where Jin asked Sun marriage? In Chapter 6 of the first season the couple appears in front of the alleged home of wealthy father Sun. This building is actually the Byodo -In Temple in the Valley of the Temples in Kahekili Highway road.
