A couple of weeks ago a good friend told me about this series. In the last times I had seen posters all over the city announcing its premiere, but it was not still on my mind, and did not even know what was the story about. My friend told me that she had read that all parents should watch it before their children were teenagers. I know that there is a lot of time left till I reach that moment, but my husband and I wanted to see something in Netflix on a rainy Sunday and there it was, among the last releases.

It was only the first chapter and we knew where it had been shot, it was definitely Marin County and the bridge was Carquinez’s.

We noted all the places where the series was filmed and we have visited them.

Let us tell you about this experience:

The series was filmed between June and December 2016 and although everything happens in the small town of Crestmont, the streets actually belong to different towns: Larkspur, Corte Madera, San Rafael, Mill Valley, Vallejo, Sebastopol and Crockett.

First stop, Hannah’s first house. In the first chapter, Hannah celebrates her first and only party in this house. Here she meets Justin.

The Liberty Institute is in reality Analy institute in Sebastopol. All the scenes recorded in the institute were shot during the weekends and at night so as not to disturb the students. In addition, no students were allowed to be part in the series.

In Hannah’s parents’ store, the fictitious label still remains, and you can see posters saying that it is a set film and not a real store.

Do you remember the liquor store? Three scenes were shot here. The owner of the store was very kind, in fact he told us that the filming took place during two days and that of course they paid him to close the store during that time. He told us that they paid him very well, something that we imagined haha He also told us that  American Graffiti (1973 film) was shot there.

In episode 8, the climbing scene was shot at Rock City in Mount Diablo State Park and the Walplex store is actually Friedman’s in Petaluma.

Finally we visited the cinema, maybe the place that most disappointed me.

If you liked the soundtrack, you can listen to the list of songs on Amazon.

Finally, let me tell you something that most of you will already know. High School is only a small stage in your life, and it does not matter if you don’t fit in your class, it is just a time with people that you may never see in your life . Your life, that is worth it.
